These Rick Steves’ Money Belts make your life so much easier. No purse, no wallet, no thefts. Rick Steves’ Money Belt is one of the top products around. Why? Well, he has made and wore travel belts for the past 20 years. The guy knows his stuff and I have no problems talking about his products.
Essential Silk Moneybelt
Very safe against pickpockets, staying comfortable beneath your clothes. You can deep-store your valuable documents — such as airline ticket, railpass and passport. There is also an accessible section under a second zipper with two compartments — one for your cash, and one for your debit/credit cards.
The silk is sturdy, ultra-light, and you can wear it right under under the beltline. The waist belt might be a bit too long for slim people, leaving some leftover strap: it can be adjusted from 36″ to 72″. A strong buckle contributes to a safer feeling. The Rick Steves’ Money Belt is very discreet under your clothing — 4-3/4″ x 12″.
Essential Silk Neck Wallet
This is Rick’s response for the people who’d rather not a money belt. As the money belt, there’s a place where you can deep-store your valuable documents. This large zip inside pocket has a plastic bag that can be used it for tickets and passports in case you get caught in the rain. There’s also an accessible section with two compartments — one for your cash, and one for your debit/credit cards.
This neck wallet is made of silk and its neck cord measures 40″ from end to end. The cord is adjustable, so you can choose to wear it over your chest, tummy, or shoulder-holster-style. The Rick Steves’ Neck Wallet measures 6″ x 8 1/2″, an excellent size to go under your clothing. The zipper pulls are a bit too small, but since this is made to go under your clothing, this is a concession that needs to be made.
Hidden Pocket
This is the ideal choice is you want to combine pickpocket security with less hassle. Here you can protect your passport and cards by tucking the pocket away using your own belt! It has two loops, plus two zippered pockets. It comes in two colors to match your clothing (black or khaki).
Basically you run your belt through it and then flip your Hidden Pocket down inside your pants, sliding it around to find a comfortable spot. The Rick Steves’ Hidden Pocket measures only 4 1/2″ x 7″, fitting a different type of travel need. Choose your favorite!
Security Pouch
Although money belts, neck wallets and/or hidden pockets are targeted towards different people, one thing all travelers should have is a place where they place their back-up documents, such as photocopies of your passport and visa important pages, telephone numbers and even an emergency money stack, in case anything goes wrong.
The Rick Steves’ Security Pouch clips securely inside your bag and measures only 5″ x 12″, fitting a smart and unique style of travel. When you need to retrieve important information, you’ll know exactly where to find it. The color is always the basic black nylon, tucking away discreetly.
Each traveler should wear their own money belt. It’s the best defense against street thieves. And from now on, if you feel a hand trying to grab something from your pocket, you can just laugh it off!
